Chaos broke out during peak-hour traffic on the Plattekloof off-ramp of the N1 highway in Cape Town yesterday when a drive-by shooting in broad daylight resulted in one death and two injuries.

Police spokesperson FC Van Wyk told IOL that a 28-year-old male was fatally wounded in the drive-by, which happened in broad daylight, while a 24-year-old female was shot in the shoulder and a 26-year-old male was shot in the stomach.

Van Wyk said cases of murder and attempted murder have been registered for investigation.

“Police detectives who were on the scene to comb the area for clues, were following on possible leads with no arrests so far.”

Police say that anyone with any information on the incident is kindly requested to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111.

Road users were urged to use other routes during the scene investigation and traffic congestion occurred causing delays.

No information is yet available as to who the shooters were and what their connection was to the targets of the shooting.

SAPS did not reply to queries at the time of publishing.
