The Free State town of Senekal has once again erupted into chaos as anti-farm murder protestors and the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) demonstrate at the town’s Magistrate’s Court.

On Friday, [October 17] two suspects appeared in court in connection with the murder of 21-year-old farm manager Brendin Horner.

Police had been on high alert since the early hours of the morning in the town, with reinforcements coming in from as far as Gauteng to provide backup. There have also been stop-and-searches set up by police to ensure no weapons are brought into Senekal.

According to reports, a group of farmers on motorcycles have tried to break through police barricades, and the EFF allegedly retaliated by throwing stones and bottles at them.
