Northern Cape police are on the lookout for an elderly tourist from Cape Town, who has been reported missing in the Augrabies Falls National Park, reports Cape {town} Etc.
According to police spokesperson Colonel Cherelle Ehlers, the 66-year-old is believed to have disappeared after he went for a hike on Friday, 11 April 2025 after making a reservation at the park the day before.
‘When he failed to return at 4:30pm, park rangers became concerned and promptly reported the matter to the Augrabies SAPS. His personal belongings and vehicle were still at the park,’ said Ehlers.
‘A comprehensive search operation was immediately launched into his disappearance.’
Ehlers added that members from Augrabies SAPS, SAPS Airwing, Upington Search and Rescue Unit, Upington K9 Unit and a drone pilot have joined forces to execute the ongoing search efforts.

‘All information will be handled confidentially,’ concluded Ehlers.
