The former Xavier Alexander Musk, 18-year-old transgender daughter of Elon Musk, has filed a request to change her name and gender recognition.
According to TMZ, she says she wants her new name to be Vivian Jenna Wilson and court documents available online through PlainSite.org indicates that she wants to be legally recognised as female.
This change comes after she announced that she ‘no longer lives with or wishes to be related to her biological father in any way, shape or form’, as per Reuters.
Elon Musk has previously come under fire over transphobic comments he made concerning the transgender community, even though he claims that his company, Tesla, is supportive of the LGBTQ+ community and had topped an annual list of the best places for LGBTQ+ people to work at.
But the group behind the list, the Human Rights Campaign, called out Musk over his insensitive comments. The organization’s President Alphonso David insists that “Musk should apologise”.
“Elon Musk’s tweet mocking pronouns is exactly the opposite of what inclusive leadership looks like today. It’s also decidedly out of step with the best practices we advise companies,” he added in an interview with CNBC.
In December 2020, Musk tweeted a cartoon picture of a soldier rubbing blood on his face next to the words “when you put he/him in ur [your] bio.” The soldier is shown wearing a hat that says “I love to oppress”.

In a different tweet, he also stated “I absolutely support trans, but all these pronouns are an esthetic nightmare.”
