A breakdown of generation units has forced South Africans to once again keep the candles and gas stove ready as Stage 2 load shedding has been implemented.
According to the power utility, load shedding, which will continue from 5:00pm until 10:00pm tonight, has been implemented after generation units broke down at Majuba and Medupi power stations.
“Eskom regrets to inform the public that, due to the breakdown of a generation unit each at Majuba and Medupi power stations today, Stage 2 load shedding will be implemented from 5pm until 10pm tonight,” it indicated via a statement.
“Eskom will continue to closely monitor the system, adjust, and communicate any changes as may be necessary,” it continued.
The power utility currently has 2246MW on planned maintenance, with further 15 847 MW of capacity unavailable due to breakdowns, as per News24.
