Eskom has stated that its power supply network in the Western Cape has faced challenges relating to vandalism and the power supply being overloaded by illegal connections, Cape {town} Etc reports.

Due to constant overloading, it has resulted in power failures, which have affected over 16 000 residents in Bothasig and Kraaifontein, according to EWN.
Technicians from Eskom have had to switch off the power supply to the entire area of Wallacedene to begin repairs.
Eskom has also faced other challenges in the Western Cape, such as suspending operations in certain areas of the province due to constant robberies and attacks.
