Eskom has announced that loadshedding will be reduced from stage 4 to stage 3 from 5 am this morning, 24 December 2023.
The power utility is trying to avoid loadshedding on Christmas and can only make a final decision on Christmas morning on whether emergency reserves can be utilised to try to avoid loadshedding on Sunday.
Eskom COO, Jan Oberholzer said, “It’s Eskom’s intention not to have load shedding on Christmas.
“However we will evaluate and monitor the system up to Sunday morning and then, very early on Sunday morning, [will] make a decision.”
