Eskom has announced that it will suspend loadshedding from 9pm on Friday, November 19 as generation units have returned to service.
According to a statement released by the power utility, a unit each at Kendal, Camden and Grootvlei power stations as well as two units each at Majuba and Matimba power stations have returned to service.
“Overnight two units at Majuba Power Station tripped and a further unit was shut down for emergency repairs. Furthermore, a unit each at Grootvlei and Tutuka power stations tripped. Of the five units, two units have since returned to service,” the statement read.

The statement went on to say that the total breakdowns currently amount to 14 960MW while planned maintenance is 3 345MW of capacity.
Eskom CEO André de Ruyter also announced on Friday that an investigation has shown signs of sabotage at the Lethabo Power Station in the Free State. According to De Ruyter, unidentified individuals had sabotaged the power utility by cutting supporting steel pylons on the main distribution lines feeding electricity to the coal conveyor belts at this specific power station.
