Get ready to rally the candles, because Eskom has issued a warning following severe constraints on the power system.
According to the power utility service, loadshedding may be on the cards at short notice if any significant breakdowns occur.
The potential loadshedding would put South Africans in the dark for this evening, 20 June and the next few weeks between the evening hours of 5pm-10pm, it said.
“There are a number of generating units expected to return to service during the day today but the likelihood of loadshedding is high and may be required at short notice,” Eskom explained.
Currently, there are 5232MW on panned maintenance, a striking contrast to the 14 623MW of capacity that’s unavailable thanks to breakdowns.
The public has been urged to be frugal on electricity consumption, especially between 5am-9am and 4pm-10pm.
Meanwhile, the Aussies got a taste of some local loadshedding flavour, and as always, Nando’s response was Peri-Peri hot.
