Just a few days ago, South Africans were delivered the sweet news of relief from loadshedding. However, our ‘light in the tunnel’ moment seems like it might be burning out, thanks to a recent update from Eskom.
“The power utility service issued a statement today stating that “while no loadshedding is currently anticipated, the power system is constrained, and loadshedding may be implemented at short notice during the evening, should there be any significant breakdowns.”
So is there loadshedding tonight or not?
It looks like Eskom itself doesn’t know, but it has warned that if any significant breakdowns occur, there will be loadshedding likely from 5pm-10pm.
“Eskom cautions the public that as the shortage of generation capacity persists, the system will continue to be constrained with an elevated risk of loadshedding over the coming weeks,” it added.
3 101MW on planned maintenance is available, but 13 149 MW of capacity is not, due to the breakdowns.
The public is, as always, urged to use electricity sparingly.
