Motorists and visitors planning to head to the V&A Waterfront on Wednesday, are being cautioned to prepare for significant traffic disruptions, reports Cape {town} Etc.
This comes as the V&A Waterfront is set to welcome two major cruise ships, MSC Musica and Norwegian Dawn, which are expected to disembark over 5 000 passengers at the Cape Town Cruise Terminal.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday, the arrival of these vessels will result in increased congestion from 7am to 7pm. With thousands of travellers ready to explore the vibrant attractions of the Waterfront, traffic delays are almost inevitable as both locals and tourists enter and exit the area.
‘Delays will occur when entering and exiting the V&A Waterfront,’ the statement cautioned. To mitigate the impact, additional traffic marshals will be deployed along Dock Road to help facilitate the movement of vehicles. Authorities are calling for patience and cooperation from the public as they strive to manage the flow of traffic efficiently during this busy period.
For those intending to visit, it is advisable to plan routes ahead of time and consider alternate modes of transport where possible. Travel times may be longer than usual, especially during peak arrival and departure hours.
As the V&A Waterfront continues to be a significant hub for both tourists and residents, such large-scale arrivals are common, yet they bring unique challenges that require careful logistical handling.
Stakeholders emphasise the importance of visitor experience, and while delays can be frustrating, they are geared towards ensuring safety and smooth traffic flow for everyone.
