Brook was a student at the University of North Carolina, where, through a scholarship foundation, she was accepted for an internship programme at the Justice Desk Africa’s Ntsika ye Themba. The focal point of the programme is the education of young boys about issues such as gender based violence and toxic masculinity.
In conjunction with the programme, Brook attended classes at the University of Cape Town, reports the Daily Voice.
Justice Desk Africa commented to News24 that ‘Brook was a bright light dedicated to making the world a better place. Her radiant energy and smile will be deeply missed by all who knew her.’
‘We will carry her memory with us as we continue our important work in the fight for justice and human rights’ ended the organisation.
‘My sweet girl. So much life left to enjoy. So profoundly earthshaking’ he captioned the tribute post.
In memory of Brook, her family has established the Brook Cheuvront memorial scholarship and the fund has been open for donations.
