A tragic incident unfolded on the N7 highway near the Hopefield R45 turnoff, approximately 5km from Malmesbury, on Sunday afternoon, resulting in one fatality and several injuries, reports Cape {town} Etc.
The accident occurred just before midday, and emergency services swiftly responded to the scene.
The West Coast Medical Rescue reported that they discovered a vehicle that had veered off the roadway and landed on the R45 Hopefield road.
The scene prompted a rapid deployment of first responders, who worked tirelessly to assist the injured. Metro EMS was also on the scene, providing immediate treatment to those affected.
In an update shared on their social media platform, West Coast Medical Rescue confirmed, ‘Our crews assisted on scene, stabilising the injured before they were transported to a nearby hospital for further care.’
Despite the focused efforts of medical personnel, one patient succumbed to their injuries.
The details surrounding the crash remain under investigation, as authorities seek to understand the circumstances that led to this tragic event.
