In a major step toward enhancing cross-border travel, FlySafair has officially commenced flights between Cape Town and Windhoek, Namibia, Cape {town} Etc reports.

This new service marks the airline’s first regional route originating from Cape Town, offering travellers an affordable and convenient option for travel.
FlySafair, known for its low-cost domestic flights, announced that this new route is part of its broader mission to make travel more accessible and cost-effective for passengers across southern Africa.
The airline expects the service to open up new opportunities for leisure and business travel between the two cities.
‘We are extremely excited to have this highly anticipated route operational before the summer holidays at the end of the year and offer our customers further opportunities to visit loved ones or explore the sights of Namibia and its capital from our doorstep,’ said Kirby Gordon, chief marketing officer at FlySafair.
‘It has been a long-time goal of ours to expand into the Windhoek market, and with more aircraft availability in Cape Town, we have been able to make this a reality, enhancing connectivity between two popular destinations in southern Africa.’
The launch was celebrated in style, with South Africa’s minister of tourism, Patricia de Lille, joining FlySafair executives and other key stakeholders at Cape Town International Airport for the inaugural flight.
De Lille praised the airline’s efforts, noting that this new route would play a crucial role in boosting tourism and stimulating economic ties between South Africa and Namibia.
Starting at R1800, tickets are much less than competitors.
The flights will operate twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, fulfilling the route’s growing demand, which has barely reached 83% of pre-COVID levels.
The Cape Town to Windhoek route joins FlySafair’s other regional destinations, which include Harare and Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe.
Flysafair is the latest airline to add flights to and from Cape Town to their schedule.
Air France resumed its seasonal service from Paris-Charles de Gaulle to Cape Town International Airport.
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines also recently announced an improved winter schedule that will run from 27 October to 30 March, 2025, catering to both business and leisure passengers and offering the option to visit 220 cities globally.
As the festive season approaches, travellers between the United Kingdom and Cape Town were given further options after Norse Atlantic Airways announced new seasonal flights between London Gatwick and the Mother City.
