‘Having an additional aircraft that we are basing in Cape Town is now enabling us to expand into the market with a competitive fare.’
He explains that the route has recovered to about 83% of its pre-Covid levels, indicating a significant opportunity to boost travel to the destination.
According to Bizcommunity, traditionally, tickets from Cape Town to Windhoek range from R5,000 to over R9,000.
However, FlySafair, staying true to its commitment to providing safe and affordable travel, is offering highly competitive prices, with tickets starting at just R1,800.
These fares, now available for purchase, make Windhoek an accessible option for many travellers who previously found it out of reach due to cost.
The new route is also opportune, coming ahead of the summer holidays.
The Cape Town to Windhoek route caters to travellers eager to explore neighbouring African countries.
‘The new route will additionally cater to overseas travellers who are using Cape Town as a jumping-off point to other African destinations,’ he adds.
It makes sense to make Namibia more accessible and affordable for both local and international travellers.
As noted by the International Trade Administration, Namibia is a top tourist destination, known for its natural attractions like the Namib Desert, Fish River Canyon, Skeleton Coast, and Etosha National Park.
The iconic Sossusvlei dunes and strong road infrastructure further enhance its appeal.
To meet the demand, FlySafair’s new route will operate twice weekly, on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
This year, FlySafair has launched several new routes, including direct flights from Cape Town and Johannesburg to the Kruger National Park, enhancing access for local and international tourists to one of South Africa’s most famous natural treasures.
‘The Cape Town to Windhoek route expands that drive by giving travellers a more affordable way to venture further afield and avail themselves of the rich beauty that is abundant in one of our neighbouring countries,’ concludes Gordon.
