FlySafair, the popular low-cost carrier, has announced the return of its annual sale, featuring one-way flight tickets for a few rands in total.
This highly anticipated sale has previously caused chaos across the country as customers eagerly vie for a chance to snag these bargain seats. This year, in celebration of its 9th anniversary, the airline will be selling one-way tickets for just R9, including airport taxes, with a record-breaking 50 000 seats available on select flights between May and November 2023.

Since its inaugural flight in 2014, FlySafair has become a major player in the domestic air travel market, operating over 150 daily flights to connect all major South African cities with additional connections to Mauritius and Zanzibar.
‘This sale is always very exciting,’ says Kirby Gordon, Chief Marketing Officer at FlySafair. ‘It’s a wonderful opportunity to share our product with people who might not otherwise have the opportunity to fly. This year we are going big with 50 000 tickets which equates to an entire 264 Boeing 737-800 aircraft full of passengers flying for only R9.’
While FlySafair has not yet revealed the exact date of this year’s sale, they have hinted that it will take place sometime next week. Prospective passengers can expect a waiting room and regular lucky draws, granting shoppers access to the site and the chance to score those coveted cheap tickets.
‘We’d like to apologise in advance to employers across the country for any productivity lost on the sale day,’ quipped Gordon.
