We’ve seen Game offer a 10% discount to vaccinated customers across categories through its Vax Appreciation Wednesday campaign in September, while Uber partnered with Mastercard and the Department of Health to provide free rides to increase vaccinations in South Africa until October 31.
Even Deluxe Laser & Spa hopped on board to offer clients one free underarm laser hair removal session when presenting their vaccination card, which ended in September. But First National Bank (FNB) is the latest establishment to encourage customers to get vaccinated – with a few millions up for grabs, but only to those who have received the jab.
In a statement on Thursday, FNB said that vaccinated customers stand a chance of receiving up to R6 million through a monthly draw, which is broken down as follows:
- FNB customers can win R3 million for just being vaccinated.
- A customer can be awarded with R2 million if they are vaccinated and have insurance with FNB Life.
- An additional R1 million will be awarded if the customer is vaccinated and 60 years old or older.
This means R18 million in total that’s running from October to December. Customers would have to register on the FNB app under the bank’s “nav>> Wellness” section. Set up your health profile to access the Vaccine Status button. Once there, they’d need to confirm that they have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
No proof is required at this stage but winners will later need to provide evidence that they have received their jab. Qualifying customers can submit information from October 7, 2021 and the first winner will be announced early in November.
FNB’s Life division CEO Lee Bromfield said: “We see the vaccination programme as a means to help lower the mortality rate of our customers and encourage our customers to consider getting vaccinated, not only for their own health benefits but for the good of the economy and the society at large.”
