Former Good Hope FM station manager Brendan Ficks has died from a COVID-19 related illness on Friday, December 25. This comes a week after he lost both his parents to COVID-19.

On December 15, Ficks (48) made a Facebook post explaining that both of his parents had been hospitalised with COVID-19, and he had also tested positive.

“As I read the latest COVID-19 Stats today I realized how we have become part of these stats as well. At first these stats were just number far away from me. It became closer as friends contracted the virus and even died,” he wrote on Facebook. “But know everything changed, because we are now part of this unfortunately statistic. Please keep us in your prayers and stay positive only in your mindset and outlook on life.”

His mother died a day later on the 16th, and his father died on the 18th. Ficks then passed on Christmas Day, December 25.

Since his passing, many have taken to social media to express their condolences for the loss of this family. His friends describe him as a gentleman and someone who was always smiling.
