Four suspects have been apprehended in connection with the murder of a community doctor in Tulbagh. Dr Roelof Botha’s was discovered on Schalkenbosch Road on Monday [June 1] with multiple stab wounds.

The suspects are between the ages of 20 and 35, and as reported by IOL, are facing murder charges.

Fifty-eight-year-old Botha’s body was discovered on a gravel road 4oom from his home. It is alleged that he was visiting the zebra camp on his farm when he was attacked.

One of his friends reported that he had spoken to Botha just before 6pm. The doctor was having problems with the dogs at the zebra camp and informed his friend that he planned to shoot them.

At approximately 6.40pm, he was found by a couple who were driving toward the town. He is believed to have been stabbed by a sharp object. The four suspects were found in possession of his wallet, jacket, watch and shotgun.
