Police in the Western Cape have called on community members to refrain from engaging in mob justice attacks after the bodies of four men were discovered at an informal settlement in Samora Machel on Tuesday, September 7.
As IOL reports, the shocking discovery comes just two days after the bodies of four young men were allegedly dumped into a river near Driftsands after they were involved in a mob justice attack. However, the bodies have not been found yet as police divers continue their search.

IOL adds that the four men are known for causing trouble in and around the community, and police spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa says the identities of the four are still unknown. Detectives from Samora Machel have initiated a murder investigation with SAPS management, warning perpetrators of mob justice attacks.
Potelwa has also urged the public with information about the identities of the deceased persons and the circumstances that led to their deaths to contact the police on 0860 010 111 or via MySAPSApp.
Meanwhile, Mbekweni residents have gathered outside the Paarl Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, September 8 as the 27-year-old Siphokazi Booi’s alleged killer made his first appearance. Booi’s burnt body was discovered on Sunday.
