Four people have died after a vehicle burst into flames when it smashed into a Vibracrete wall in Belhar on Saturday, August 15.

The vehicle had been travelling on the R300 in the direction of Bellville when it left the roadway and collided with the wall. The City’s Fire and Rescue Service was alerted at 5.48am and fire crews from Belhar and Kuilsriver were soon on the scene.

There they found a vehicle alight and three bodies, which were trapped inside the vehicle, burnt beyond recognition, .

The body of a fourth person, an adult male, which had been flung from the vehicle was found on the roof of a house in Signal Close, Belhar.

The fire was extinguished by 6.30am and the scene was handed over to the South African Police Service.
