FYN has become one of Cape Town’s most reputable restaurants in the short time it has been on the circuit. Its designer, Tristan Du Plessis, won the grand prize at the International Bar and Restaurant Design Awards in London.

The FYN restaurant space has been hailed as one of the most visually stunning in the Mother City. Its sister restaurant Alice and Fifth, also designed by Tristan Du Plessis, walked away victorious at the awards. “Now in its eleventh year and with entries from over 70 countries worldwide, we cover every imaginable space; from ships to airports, museums to burger vans, from revered Michelin-starred establishments to the fleeting dynamism of pop-ups,” the awards explains.

For each category there were two shortlists and two winners, one winner for UK entries and one winner for international entries.

The following categories were entered by UK and International projects:

Alice and Fifth, based in Johannesburg, is one of only two international restaurants that walked away with accolades – all other eateries that won were all UK-based.
