Massmart is gearing up for an extended Black Friday season this year, with its Game, Makro, Builders and Jumbo Cash & Carry stores offering discounts throughout November, Cape {town} Etc reports.

Andrew Stein, Massmart’s vice president of Group Marketing, highlighted the company’s strategy: ‘Given the financial strain many households are facing, our Black Friday deals are designed to help customers secure significant savings on essentials and popular items.’
With Massmart’s research showing that 75% of Game shoppers plan to spend more on Black Friday this year, the retailer is preparing substantial savings across categories.
Highlights include:
- 40% off select entry-level laptops
- Discounts of up to R2 000 on smartphones
- Up to 60% off sporting equipment
- 50% off cookware and luggage
Game’s focus on groceries and household items aims to provide customers with essential goods at lower prices, making shopping during these difficult times more affordable.
Makro is tailoring its Black Friday promotions for families and businesses preparing for the end-of-year holiday season and early 2025 needs. Customers can expect competitive pricing on:
- Bulk-pack groceries, including long-life milk and toilet rolls
- Home gym equipment and health accessories
- Up to 40% off the latest QLED TVs
Builders is targeting homeowners and DIY enthusiasts with Black Friday offers designed to support year-end maintenance projects. Discounts will range from 20% to 70% on a variety of items, including:
- Water tanks and LED lighting
- Ladders, security gates, and air conditioning units
Jumbo Cash & Carry, a favourite among small business owners and spaza shop operators, will provide exclusive in-store offers to help traders stock up for the festive season. Deals will cover a range of essentials, such as:
- Snacks, sweets, and beverages
- Toiletries and grocery staples
Black Friday savings will be available both online and in-store for Game, Makro, and Builders customers, while Jumbo Cash & Carry deals will remain in-store only. Makro’s promotions kick off on Sunday, 27 October, followed by Game’s offers starting on Tuesday, 29 October.
