Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis has been elected as the new leader of the Democratic Alliance (DA), reports Cape {town} Etc.
At just 39 years old, Hill-Lewis triumphed over Sedibeng caucus leader Sibusiso Dyonase in a contest that not only solidified his position as a frontrunner in the party but also signalled the DA’s strategic focus ahead of the upcoming local government elections.
Hill-Lewis’ election comes during a critical period for the party, which is not only preparing for local elections later this year but also setting its sights on leading the national government by 2029.
