Rescue and recovery efforts from day nine will continue on day ten following the incident at 75 Victoria Street. For the past 232 hours, rescue workers and other role players have been on the scene of the collapsed building.

To date, 62 of the estimated 81 people present at the time of the incident have been rescued or recovered. Thirty-three people were found dead, including 27 men and six women, while a dozen others were hospitalised.
While 47 victims have been linked to their families, 19 remain unaccounted for.

The George Municipality would like to share information on how the public can help multi-disciplinary emergency personnel by donating drinking water, energy drinks, wine gums, or food for emergency services while they are on-site.
Donations can be made to the AFM (AGS) Soteria Church at 27 Victoria Street in George, or by contacting the Gift of the Givers: Mario Ferreira (082 490 2752) and Herman Pienaar (082 829 6428).
South Africa’s president, Cyril Ramaphosa, is visiting the disaster site in George today alongside Western Cape Premier Alan Winde.
They will be accompanied by a number of national and provincial ministers. A media briefing is scheduled for 1pm in front of the George Municipality Civic Hall.
The Western Cape Department of Social Development has stated that affected families will continue to receive a comprehensive range of services for at least six months.
