Renowned actress Connie Chiume, known for her roles in Gomora and Black Panther, has passed away at the age of 72, Cape {town} Etc reports.

Her family announced the news through a brief statement on her verified Instagram account.
‘The Chiume family regrets to inform you of the passing of the internationally acclaimed award-winning actress Connie Chiume,’ part of the statement read.

Chiume passed away on Tuesday, 6 August at Garden City Hospital. The cause of death has not been disclosed.
The family assured that more details would be shared in due course.
Chiume gained widespread recognition for her role as Mamokete ‘Kete’ Khuse, a moral and maternal figure in the fictional community of e.tv’s soapie Rhythm City, which she portrayed from 2007 to 2016.
She also appeared in other popular shows such as Zone 14, Soul City, Mazinyo Dot Q and Gomora.
Chiume was celebrated for her performances in the Marvel film Black Panther (2018) and Beyoncé’s visual album Black Is King (2020).
She is survived by her four adult children.
