The Animal Welfare Society of SA is delighted to report that the abandoned Bull Terrier that was saved by a 13-year-old AWS SA Junior Welfare Ambassador, Sivekile Mgwadleke from Sweet Home Farm informal settlement in Philippi, has responded well to treatment since being admitted on September 23, and they have been able to fast track her adoption.
She now goes by the name of Amy and owes her life and good fortune to Sivekile, who rescued her after he found her tied up under a bridge near his home.
“This is not the first dog (and definitely not the last) this little Community Hero has rescued,” says the Animal Welfare Society of SA.
On Thursday, October 7, Sivekile and a group of friends paid the shelter a visit to drop off a milkcrate that contained two tiny mange-ridden puppies that he felt needed their help. “And we expect him back again next week!”, the Animal Welfare Society of SA adds.
This young man, who is an asset to his community, has a heart of gold and simply adores animals and the Animal Welfare Society of SA is pretty sure that there will be many more animals that will owe their lives to his incredible compassion.
“He was so happy to hear that the Bull Terrier was doing well and that we had managed to find her a loving new home”, the Animal Welfare Society of SA concluded.
