GrandWest will temporarily shut down part of its Food Court area (Cape Village) and the Welcome Centre (back entrance of Grand Arena) from midnight on Sunday, 6 October, until 8am on Tuesday, 8 October, Cape {town} Etc reports.

According to GrandWest General Manager Mervyn Naidoo, this closure marks the second phase of an electric-system upgrade, following the first phase completed in February. Once finished, the enhanced electrical infrastructure and new generators will help manage future grid supply inconsistencies.

During this period, the gaming floors and all other restaurants and bars in the district will remain open. Wimpy and Silver Dollar Spur in Cape Village will operate until 4pm on Monday, 7 October, while the other takeaway outlets and entertainment facilities in the Cape Village area will be closed.
Work is expected to conclude by 8am on Tuesday, 8 October, when normal operations will resume in the affected areas. Naidoo expressed regret for the inconvenience and thanked guests for their understanding.
