A group of school-going children were robbed and assaulted near the mosque in Delft Main Road on Friday morning, reports Cape {town} Etc.
According to community news group Cape Town News & Traffic, the children of approximately 7 to 11 youngsters were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment following the traumatic event.
‘They were also injured, as their school clothes had blood stains when they arrived at the hospital – all in tears,’ said one of the news group’s admins.
Law enforcement officers were reportedly on the scene shortly after the incident.
‘Hopefully, we will get them (law enforcement officers) to patrol when the school day ends later, as our learners’ safety is important,’ he added.
Cape {town} Etc has reached out to SAPS for further information.
The incident follows just two days after a 15-year-old female student was shot and killed while walking to school in Samora Machel on Wednesday morning, 11 June.
