It is a sad and sombre Friday for all the fans of the Scottish actor Robbie Coltrane whose passing away was announced today.
The 72-year-old Harry Potter actor’s cause of death has not yet been announced.
His agent and friend, Belinda Wright, shared in her statement that Coltrane had been going through treatment at Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert, central Scotland.
While many will remember him for his role as Rubeus Hagrid in the Harry Potter series, Coltrane had a good 40-year run in the acting industry.
Born in England’s Rutherglen, on 30 March 1950, Coltrane started his career in acting inAlfresco in 1983.
In 2006, Queen Elizabeth II honoured him with an OBE. Coltrane’s talent transcended different genres – comedy, action, crime, fiction and so much more.
Coltrane was nominated for awards 13 times and won eight which included Saturn Award and British Academy Film Award.
