On Friday, 27 September, the Hawks team intercepted the transportation of drugs from Gauteng to Cape Town, Cape {town} Etc reports.

Members of the Hawks’ South African Narcotics Enforcement Bureau team, Western Cape, received information stating that a Toyota Hilux bakkie was involved in the transportation of drugs.
The vehicle, enroute to Cape Town, was then spotted on the N1 near Kraaifontein, at the Brighton Road turn off.
The team undertook a search of the vehicle, which revealed 215 x 1kg parcels of cannabis.
The parcels were wrapped in cellotape and further concealed in false compartments inside the trailer of the bakkie.
The estimated price of the drugs was R1.720 million.
Two individuals, the driver and passenger, in their late twenties, were arrested.
The two are expected to appear in the Kuilsrivier Magistrates Court on Monday, 30 September 2024.
