The day raises awareness of homelessness and promotes local efforts to ease suffering and prevent deaths.
According to the Mayco member for Community Services and Health, Zahid Badroodien, Cape Town faces a stark contrast between wealth and homelessness, with around 10 000 homeless individuals but only 1500 shelter beds available.
Amid this shortfall, even a simple meal of bread and hot soup can make a world of difference for those in need.
In light of World Homeless Day on 10 October, non-profit organisation Ladles of Love has reopened its Dignity Kitchen in Cape Town and will also serve a special Dine with Dignity meal in Johannesburg.
By purchasing a Dine with Dignity voucher for R100, it’s possible to sponsor a meal and hygiene hamper for a displaced person, offering both nourishment and dignity.

For those looking to make an even greater impact, volunteering to help serve these meals is another powerful way to contribute to this meaningful cause.
However, for those unable to be there, you can still make a difference by purchasing a voucher.
