Two perpetrators of an armed robbery and car hijacking were quickly apprehended on Sunday, January 31 thanks to the quick action of the Drakenstein Farm Watch (DFW).

According to the DFW, an Egyptian foreign national living and running a business in Paarl was held up at knife and gunpoint on Sunday, while two suspects posing as clients robbed him of his trading money. They also hijacked his vehicle.

Luckily, the business owner managed to escape the vehicle on Sonstraal Road.

“A minute later the victim was spotted by a DFW commander team on their way to another incident in the same road. The injured victim was trying to get the attention of passerby motorists when he was spotted by the DFW team, who in turned flagged down SAPS for assistance. The emergency network of the DFW was used to alert all the other authorities,” said DFW in a statement.

Acting fast, the DFW posted the details of the vehicle as well as a description of the perpetrators and weapons used, onto their many WhatsApp groups.

The hijackers lost control of the stolen vehicle and crashed near Mbekweni in Paarl. A nearby officer made the link between the two incidents.

The two perpetrators were arrested and the weapons were retrieved,  according to police on scene.
