Honda has recalled three of its Civic models in South Africa, while two Ineos Grenadier models must also be recalled, the National Consumer Commission (NCC) said on Friday, Cape {town} Etc reports.
Honda Civic four-door, Civic TYPE R five-door, and CR-V five-door models sold from 2023 to 2025 have been recalled due to a problem with their steering gearboxes.

Previously, Honda had to recall 1.7 million Civic cars due to an “improperly produced” steering gearbox worm wheel. This is according to documents released by the US government agency for motor vehicle safety last year.
The fault means there’s increased friction, which could make it more difficult to steer.
The gearbox could cause abnormal noises or dangerous sticking when turning the steering, the commission said.
The UK car manufacturer INEOS has also recalled its Grenadier Ml Passenger Station Wagon as well as their N1 Light Commercial vehicle double cab pick-up.
These products were made available for sale from 1 June 2023 onwards.
INEOS Automotive South Africa informed the NCC that some consumers have reported door buttons remaining in the depressed position when a door is opened from the outside.
This, according to the supplier, could cause the door not to fully close and latch as designed.
“Consumers with affected vehicles are urged to take their vehicles to their nearest or preferred dealerships or authorised repairers to arrange an appointment to have the vehicles inspected and have all door button mechanisms replaced,” said the NCC.
