Chocolate lovers, namely KIT KAT consumers might have to do the one thing that feels heartbreaking after a choccie stop – return your goods.
Some KIT KAT products are being recalled after it was discovered that they might contain pieces of glass.
“As a precaution Nestlé South Africa is initiating a voluntary recall of a limited number of KIT KAT milk chocolate products due to the possibility that they may contain glass pieces.
To date, we have not received any complaints or reported injuries. We are taking this action out of an abundance of caution having discovered the presence of small pieces of glass during our quality and safety checks. The affected products were produced over a limited period and this voluntary recall covers only products with specific production codes that you can find on the label. Please see below and attached for your perusal and consideration,” Said Nestle South Africa to Cape {town} Etc in a statement.
Now, not all products are being recalled but the following are:
“The voluntary recall is limited to products with the production codes listed above only. No other sizes and variants of KIT KAT products (Dark chocolate and White chocolate) are affected by this recall. Milk chocolate KIT KAT products with different production codes from those listed here are not affected by this recall either,” the Nestle group further indicated.
It has been advised that those who have purchased the above products do not consume them and rather return them to the store from which they were bought and opt for a refund.
If you or someone you know has consumed these affected products, the company advises that you consult a medical professional. The National Department of Health is cooperating with the group in light of the situation.
The group are still investigating what happened and offered their unserved apologies to consumers.
