Hurricane Milton has left more than 3 million homes and businesses without electricity as it continues to wreak havoc in areas of the United States, reports Cape {town} Etc.

The hurricane caused extensive damage on Wednesday, 9 October, along Florida’s Gulf Coast and the strong winds, violent storms and flooding continue.
On 9 October around 8pm, the cyclone produced winds of approximately 205kph.
The gusty wind specifically hit the city of Siesta Key in Florida and it proved to be the strongest windfall stemming from the hurricane.

Associated Press News has reported that more than 3 million homes and businesses have been left powerless since the storm hit the States.
The areas most severely affected by the power outages include Hardee, Sarasota, Hillsborough and Manatee counties.

Since making landfall near Siesta Key in Florida as a Category 3 storm, Hurricane Milton has now reduced to a Category 1 storm, according to Al Jazeera.
Affected counties, however, continued to report downed power lines and fallen trees in roadways.
Bridges in Sarasota County have also been deemed not passable since the hurricane made its landfall nearby.

The hurricane is expected to continue to travel eastward along the coast and is further expected to enter the Atlantic Ocean on Friday, 11 October, in the early hours of the morning.
