Ranking hotels across the continents, The World’s 50 Best Hotels list forms the culmination of votes from 600 anonymous experts, including hoteliers, journalists, educators and experienced luxury travellers. The list aims to showcase the finest luxury travel experiences around the world.
Rubbing shoulders amid Bangkok’s Capella Bangkok, Maldive’s Soneva Fushi, Hôtel de Crillon in Paris and its international sibling property Maroma in Riviera Maya, Cape Town’s Mount Nelson has been ranked 28th on the list and took home the top spot as the Best Hotel in Africa.

Affectionately known as ‘The Nellie’, the Mount Nelson Hotel has long been a favourite among locals and visitors – whether for an afternoon tea, celebrity-spotting at the Planet Bar or a luxurious stay in one of its 198 rooms and suites.
With 125 years of heritage behind its name, eight acres of lush green gardens framed by the background of Table Mountain and its exclusive selection of fine-dining options, some might argue that it comes as no surprise that the iconic pink hotel would find its rightful place among the world’s best.
