Sassa has issued a warning to R350 social relief distress grant applicants whose marital status has changed after applying to alert the agency.
Sassa has warned people who have married or changed their surname since applying for the R350 social relief distress grant to inform the agency in order to avoid application complications.

Such complications are in essence quite simple – if you don’t alert Sassa of the name changes, the amount may not be paid. This is because Sassa validates cliental information on a monthly basis.
The agency has further apologised for a delay in responding to requests for reconsideration from those previously declined.
“Sassa is currently working to resolve this. Sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused’ the agency said.
Reconsideration will come to those who received less than R595 per month”.
