The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) Hartbeespoort Dam duty crew and Specialised Rescue Units (SRU) were activated to assist the SA Police Services at the foot of the southern side of the dam wall.
Madibeng Water Affairs closed the sluice gates of the dam to assist with the rescue.

Rescuers used high-angle technical rescue equipment and swift water technical rescue equipment to reach a 21-year-old local woman who had suffered critical injuries from a fall. When they got to her, medics from NSRI and SRU gave her medical care, and paramedics from Hartbeespoort Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) joined them.
Once the patient was medically stabilised, she was extricated and transported to the hospital by a HEMS ambulance in a serious but stable condition.
The swift reaction and complex technical rescue operation are highly appreciated.
