The Western Cape’s Department of Health EMS/AMS rescue helicopter was deployed to the Newlands Forest to assist and rescue an injured hiker on Saturday,22 January.
According to reports, the hiker was found on the contour path in the vicinity of Rhodes Memorial and airlifted from Newlands Forest’s Hiddingh Ravine.
The extent of the hiker’s injuries is not yet known.

Meanwhile, the flames that blazed on both sides of Ou Kaapse Weg are now under control, according to The City of Cape Town and SAN Parks.
