WhatsApp crashed last week, and now, Instagram. It seems like Meta is ready to put up its Christmas tree and call it a year.

Some Instagram users started reporting that their accounts have been randomly suspended or disabled. Others are experiencing glitches and bizarre password prompts.
In a statement shared on 1 November, Instagram said: “We’re aware that some of you are having issues accessing your Instagram account. We’re looking into it and apologize for the inconvenience. #instagramdown.”
It then said: “We’ve resolved this bug now – it was causing people in different parts of the world to have issues accessing their accounts and caused a temporary change for some in number of followers. Sorry!”
However, social media responses indicate that the problem has not been resolved.
- “It hasn’t been solved, the account is still suspended.”
- “I still can’t log into my account. Every time I try to log in it says, ‘error please wait a few minutes before trying again’.”
- “My account is still disabled for no reason.”
- “I’m still locked out of my account and emailed you guys. The customer service number admitted that no one will respond or get a live person. I keep putting in my number but a code won’t send. Please help.”
Accounts are being disabled at random – not based on any sort of app violations.
It’s unclear if affected accounts can be recovered.
