The son of legendary South African musician Johnny Clegg performed with his father’s band during a touching public memorial service held for Johnny on Friday.
30-year-old Jesse Clegg performed his father’s song “I’ve Been Looking” after he was introduced by actor John Kani, who gave a touching tribute to Johnny upon his death earlier this month. Clegg died after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Zolani Mahola of Freshly Ground, Max du Preez and the minister of Sports, Arts and Culture Nathi Mthethwa also attended the memorial, which was held in Johannesburg.
Jesse said, “In 2017 my dad and I wrote a song together. It’s a song about the things in life that you can’t replace. To my dad that was his family.”
