Police are investigating a case of attempted murder after a man was shot while jogging in Hout Bay this morning. The 34-year-old was running on Empire Road, early on Wednesday morning, when a shot rang out and he was injured.

Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson, told IOL News paramedics were dispatched after a call for assistance. When they arrived on the scene at 6.55am they discovered the injured jogger.

“The man was found seated inside. Paramedics assessed the man and found that he had sustained a gunshot wound to his lower back,” Meiring said.

He was treated for his injuries and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The reason for the shooting is still unknown at this stage. Police are investigating a case of attempted murder.

In a separate incident on Tuesday, a tourist was stabbed several times, and sustained serious injuries in the Bo-Kaap.
