Kenya Airways flight KQ784 was safely brought to a stop after landing, but the temporary runway closure caused knock-on delays, Cape {town} Etc reports.
Cape Town International Airport faced flight disruptions on Tuesday afternoon after a Kenya Airways plane suffered a tyre failure while landing on the main runway.

Airports Company South Africa said the aircraft was disabled on the runway for several hours before operations could resume, while passengers disembarked safely.

The incident involved flight KQ784, which landed at about 15:25. ACSA said airport teams worked with the airline and relevant stakeholders to recover the aircraft and reopen the runway. During the closure, arriving flights were diverted, and some international departures were delayed.
Cape Town Airport later confirmed that runway operations had resumed, although some delays could continue as airlines recovered their schedules. Travellers were advised to check the ACSA mobile app for live flight information.
