Capetonians have a lot to celebrate. The nationwide lockdown has been lowered to Level 2, warmer weather is on the horizon as winter slowly but surely eases its grip, and the Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden has now opened its doors to visitors wanting to enjoy nature with a picnic.

According to the Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden social media pages, as of Saturday, 22 August picnics will be allowed and the facility will remain open every day from 08h00-18h00. Social distancing and strict hygiene measures will remain in place, these include:

• Screening and contact tracing will be done upon entry
• The wearing of masks in public is mandatory
• Picnics allowed from 22 August 2020
• Physical distancing measures will be strictly enforced
• The use of kiddies jungle gym is prohibited
• Limitations of visitor numbers into the garden may be imposed
• Remember Kirstenbosch is bin-free, please take all your rubbish home with you
• Visitors are encouraged to bring their own water in reusable containers, as drinking fountains are not operational.
