South Africans and Beacon “mmmMallow Milk Chocolate Mallow Eggs” are a dynamic duo, with locals going above and beyond to secure delicious marshmallow chocolatey treats.
Last year in May, South African expats, or ‘eggspats’ broke the internet after getting news that the SA Food Store was getting stock of the Easter favourites. These expats quite literally crashed the SA Food store’s website.

A year later, Beacon’s marshmallow goodies are back at it again, with stock sold out online for some online retailers, and prices increasing as much as a child’s excitement toward an Easter Egg Hunt.
According to BusinessInsider, there are shortages across big chains too – and places, where you can buy the local favourite goodie, are far and few in between.
So, where can you get boxes of chocolate-covered marshmallow eggs?
They may not be Beacon’s good ole’ faithfuls, but there are remixes available at pretty steep prices.
At Checkers, you can grab a box of Cadbury’s Fluffies with 30 ‘eggs’ for R74.99, or try Woolies take “Chocolate Coated Marshies” for R59.99 for a box of 24.
Is there anywhere to get Beacons’ treats?
All hope is not lost, depending on stock. Some Game stores will charge R62 if they have availability, while Checkers raises the bar to R74.99 – but knowing locals and this national hunt, it may be difficult to grab the goodies.
Takealot has Beacon’s favourites on offer for R159 for a pack of 36. However, the catch is that it’ll take you 5 to 7 working days to have it delivered. Post-Easter treat?
