If you usually drive along Kloof Nek Road, you might want to take an alternative route, unless you enjoy road delays.
The City of Cape Town has advised that Kloof Nek Road will undergo roadworks that will impact traffic flow today, 24 June.
The works (between Firdale Avenue and Bellevue Street) will take up the majority of our Friday, from 9am to 3pm. Both of the fast lanes and southbound will be closed.
What’s happening to Kloof Nek Road?
Don’t be alarmed, it’s just a slight hiccup in the road that the City wants to level out. A bump that formed before the manhole in the Table Bay-bound lane, before Quarry Hill Road needs some TLC as it has worsened over the past six-months.
“Flag personnel will be on site to regulate traffic, however, given that Kloof Nek Road is an important access route, delays should be expected. I want to urge road users to please avoid Kloof Nek Road on Friday as the work will disrupt traffic flow.
“We will try our best to complete the work as soon as possible. This is an emergency repair and must be done to prevent the bump from getting worse and posing a danger to road users, in particular given that this is on the downhill section of Kloof Nek Road as you approach the bay. I want to thank all for their support and understanding,” said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
