Work has officially started on Kloof Road, signaling the next stage of a project focused on repairing and making safer one of Cape Town’s famous coastal roads that were damaged and raised safety worries before.
The update follows site inspections that confirmed the initial clearing work, such as removing fallen trees, is done, letting construction teams proceed with the planned rehabilitation activities.
Current planning places completion of the project in December later this year, provided construction progresses without major disruption. The timeline, however, remains dependent on environmental conditions.
Ward Councillor for 54 Nicola Jowell indicated on facebook that while teams aim to maintain steady progress, weather patterns may influence the pace of work due to the complexity of the site.
‘If all goes as planned, the project should be complete in December 2026, pending any delays or unforeseen challenges,‘ she shared, adding that inclement weather could affect construction given the difficult terrain where operations are taking place.
The councillor confirmed ongoing communication with residents, noting:‘Will keep you posted!’
