South Africa’s low-cost airline,Kulula.com confirmed that one of their flights departing from Lanseria to Cape Town was diverted to OR Tambo International Airport following an engine-related issue on Monday,7 March.
According to reports, the aircraft experienced some difficulties before taking off, however, minutes into the journey of the flight, a suspected technical issue was reported by the pilots as the plane had to route back to Johannesburg, as per The South African.

However, the airline was also quick to address the concerns by releasing a statement on their Twitter page, indicating that they are sorry about convenience as passengers had to find an alternative airline.
“We are so sorry for the inconvenience to passengers affected by this morning’s diverted flight to O.R Tambo International Airport. The engine did not fail, but there was a technical issue that did involve the engine, and we are still investigating. At no time were our passengers and crew at risk,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, the airline also suffered a suspected engine-related problem three weeks ago and had to divert the flight to OR Tambo International.
