Emergency services rushed to Sea Point late on Sunday night after a fire broke out along Main Road, sending shockwaves through the neighbourhood.
The blaze started at around 11pm at the Sea Point Tobacco and Gift store, situated next to the entrance of Lush Lounge nightclub. Fire crews responded swiftly and managed to bring the flames under control, fully extinguishing the fire by approximately 12:20am, as per Smile FM via Facebook.
Residents in the area reported hearing several loud bangs during the incident, with some saying the sounds were similar to gunshots, while others described them as tyres bursting. The noises added to the sense of alarm as emergency vehicles arrived on the scene.
